Biography
Whether
it's sports or business, winning and losing don't depend on trick plays
or new systems. It comes down to motivating people to work hard and prepare
to work as a team. Who better than Don Shula, pro football's Winn ingest
coach, to motivate an audience to put forth their best effort.
In 1996,
Shula was named Vice Chairman of the Miami Dolphins, after serving as the
team's Head Coach since 1970. As Head Coach, he had an extraordinary career,
setting many records along the way. He is the only coach to guide a team
through an undefeated season (Dolphins, 17-0 in 1972), has appeared in
six Super Bowls, and is the youngest coach to win 100, 200, and 300 games
each.
He started
his own career as a defensive back with the Cleveland Browns in 1951 before
going on to play with the Baltimore Colts and Washington Redskins. He is
author of The Winning Edge and coauthor of Everyone's A Coach with Ken
Blanchard. Don has received the Horatio Alger Award in 1995 and in 1994
received the Alexis de Tocqueville Society award for outstanding philanthropy.
