As a player, as a coach, and as a spokesman, Mike Ditka has firmly established
himself among pro football legends. He spent 11 years as the head coach
of the Chicago Bears, gaining national attention for his accomplishments
and dynamic personality. Inheriting a team that had recorded only two winning
seasons in 19 years, Ditka quickly turned things around and led the Bears
to a 10-6 record and an NFC Central Division title. He garnered Coach of
the Year honors and is the only Bears coach to lead his club to five straight
post-season appearances. After a successful coaching career, Mike Ditka
took on a new challenge in television sport casting. He joined the NBC
network as an analyst on NFL Live and as a color commentator for other
NBC broadcasts.
